What leaders ask before we start.
Every engagement begins with a clear conversation about the challenge, the stage of the business and the leadership support required. If there is a fit, we will recommend the most effective way to work together.
What does a fractional CMO or CRO do?
A fractional CMO or CRO provides experienced executive leadership for a defined amount of time, without the cost or commitment of a permanent hire. A Chief Marketing Officer leads brand, marketing and demand. A Chief Revenue Officer leads the wider revenue system, including sales, pipeline, pricing and commercial performance. hitsuzendō can provide either role or connect both around one growth agenda.
How is this different from a consultant or agency?
A consultant will usually recommend what should happen. An agency will usually deliver a defined scope of work. hitsuzendō works inside the business as part of the leadership team. We help make decisions, set priorities, align people and budgets, lead internal teams and external partners, and remain accountable for commercial progress.
What size or stage of company is this for?
hitsuzendō is most valuable when a business has real growth ambition or a material commercial challenge, but does not yet need, or is not ready for, a permanent CMO or CRO. This can include founder-led businesses, scale-ups, established brands entering a new phase and investor-backed companies preparing for growth or transformation. Fit depends more on the challenge than the size of the company.
What engagement types do you offer?
We offer fractional leadership, interim executive support and focused project engagements. This might involve holding the CMO or CRO remit, leading a period of transformation, developing a go-to-market strategy, aligning marketing and sales, entering a new market, restructuring a team or preparing the business for a permanent executive hire. Every engagement is defined around the required outcome, responsibilities and decision-making authority.
How much time do you commit, and for how long?
Most fractional engagements begin with a defined monthly commitment, often one or two days each week, and an initial three-month period. Interim or transformation briefs may require greater intensity for a shorter period. The commitment can increase or reduce as the priorities, team and pace of delivery change.
Do you bring a team?
Every engagement is led by a senior operator. hitsuzendō can work with your existing marketing, sales, product and agency teams, or help identify and coordinate specialist capability when required. This might include expertise across brand, creative, performance marketing, CRM, content, data, sales enablement or commercial operations. You only add the capability that the brief genuinely needs.
What does it cost?
Fees depend on the scope, time commitment and length of the engagement. Fractional leadership is usually structured as a monthly retainer. Interim and project work can be agreed on a fixed-fee or time-based basis. Following the initial conversation, you will receive a clear recommended scope, fee, expected outcomes and working model before deciding whether to proceed.
